The new rules as of 15 Nov are NOT coming into effect!

If you do not have B+E on your driving license you will NOT be legal to tow anything over a combined MAM of 3,500kgs

Parliament rejected the proposed scrapping of B+E testing this week on the grounds of road safety, stating there was no evidence that removing testing would improve road safety. This goes to parliament again on the 17th November where we are expecting it to be rejected for a second time.
We will keep you updated as we get more information.
If caught towing without a licence you face 9 penalty points (3 for no licence and then 6 for no insurance) and also a fine upwards of £2000

Trailer Towing Lessons

Matt is one of the area’s most experienced towing instructors and one of only a handful of full-time trailer instructors in the South East. Clients come from far and near, often through recommendations and range from private individuals right up to a large collection of national companies.

Matt is a fully qualified DVSA Approved Driving Instructor and having been teaching towing lessons with a large company for several years he went independent in 2014 and is now one of the most popular trailer instructors in the South East. Coming from an agricultural and equine background he is also heavily involved in the classic vehicle transportation scene and a keen caravan user, and so even out of work time he regularly uses a wide variety of trailers. His in-depth experience and vast knowledge of towing is second to none and ready to be passed onto you, no matter what trailer you will be towing.

Following on from the Government’s decision in September 2021 to abolish the B+E Test, Matt is continuing to offer training sessions for those who wish to gain professional tuition on all aspects of trailers & caravans.

As there is no longer any test involved, the sessions are now able to be based on real-world scenarios rather than primarily to pass the test. Sessions can be tailored to suit your requirements and can include the following: loading, uncoupling and re-coupling, as well as on-road towing and reversing techniques. The sessions are designed to build up your confidence for whatever you will be towing and are available in various durations to suit and can be carried using various trailers.

Prior to the abolition of the B+E Test, Matt consistently had one of the highest pass rates in the area, helping thousands to pass their trailer test easily and successfully over the years.

Training is available for private individuals right up to large businesses and corporate driver risk assessments, etc.

If a trailer is being used for work purposes you must ensure all operators are trained adequately to comply with the various Health and Safety legislations, which the test used to meet these requirements along with Work-Related Road Risk assessments. The driver and the employer both have a responsibility and duty of care to ensure that all driving is carried out as safely as possible and that identified risks are eliminated, reduced or managed accordingly.
A certification/accreditation scheme is now looking likely to be implemented as currently all safety organisations, along with insurers, etc are actively working towards one. Anyone that completes trailer training will now automatically be included once such a system becomes live.

Based in Farnborough, Matt’s large training ground is 5 minutes away from Junction 4 of the M3, making it easily accessible from across the south and east.

Whether you are looking to tow a caravan, horse trailer, car transporter, livestock, box trailer, boat, or any other type of trailer, Matt Price Driver Training can give you the quality training you are after!
