HGV Module 4 Initial Driver CPC Training Courses
Need to complete your Driver CPC Module 4 practical demonstration test? Matt Price Driver Training provides Module 4 Driver CPC training and test preparation in Guildford.
The training covers the practical knowledge and demonstrations required for the Module 4 test, with the training and DVSA test arranged for the same day where possible.
What is Driver CPC Module 4?
Driver CPC Module 4 is the practical demonstration part of the initial Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) qualification.
Unlike a practical driving test, Module 4 assesses your knowledge and ability to demonstrate a range of vehicle safety and security procedures. This includes carrying out practical demonstrations using the vehicle.
What Does the Module 4 Test Cover?
The test covers five areas from the Driver CPC syllabus. These include:
- Loading the vehicle safely and keeping loads secure
- Preventing trafficking of illegal immigrants
- Assessing emergency situations
- Carrying out a complete vehicle safety check
- Preventing physical risks to yourself and others
You can score up to 20 points in each topic area. To pass, you need at least 15 points in each area and an overall score of at least 80 out of 100.
Module 2 Case Studies
Before taking the Module 4 test, you must have passed the Driver CPC Module 2 case studies test.
Module 2 is a computer-based theory test taken at a DVSA theory test centre. If you’re working towards your C1 licence at the same time, we can advise you on where Module 2 fits into the process.
Module 4 Driver CPC Training
Matt will take you through each of the five subject areas and show you what you need to demonstrate during the practical test.
The training is designed to make sure you understand the procedures rather than simply memorising answers. You’ll practise the relevant vehicle checks and demonstrations and have the opportunity to work through any areas you’re unsure about before the test.
Training can be provided on a 1-to-1 basis or for a small group of candidates. Where possible, the training and test are arranged for the same day, with the test conducted by a DVSA examiner in Guildford.
Do I Need Driver CPC?
Driver CPC is generally required if you drive a lorry, bus or coach professionally, although exemptions apply in certain circumstances.
For example, Driver CPC may not be required for some private uses, such as driving a motorhome or private horse lorry. There are also exemptions covering certain vehicles, occupations and circumstances.
For the current rules and exemptions, see the GOV.UK guidance on Driver CPC exemptions.
