We offer a “one-stop” practical solution for anyone who is training to become a paramedic or join the NHS ambulance service and looking for Cat C1 Driver Training to drive an ambulance, with one of the highest pass rates in the area! Our aim is to give you 100% customer satisfaction from the start to the moment you pass!

Our guarantee to our customers:

  • 20 years experience in the driver training industry
  • Highly qualified DVSA instructor
  • Modern easy-to-drive VW Crafter van  – the same as the Mercedes Sprinter used by most ambulance trusts!
  • We deliver a level of service to ensure you enjoy the training courses in a stress-free environment.
  • We complete all training ourselves in our vehicles and never use a third-party provider, known as a broker.
  • Extensive knowledge of the test routes used during the on-road drive.

If you have not done so yet, apply for the D2 & D4 application pack to add provisional entitlement. You can do this via the DVLA Website.

Get a medical carried out for the D4 form. Unlike some training companies, we do not offer the medical for the simple reason being is there are lots of companies out there offering just this! Search for “HGV Medical” and you will see for yourself! Going to them directly will save you money as most training schools charge you for this on top of the doctor’s costs!

Once you have your provisional licence back, get the two theory tests booked: Theory multiple-choice questions and Hazard Perception. Both these must be passed before you can apply for the 3A & 3B practical tests.

Passed your theory? this is where we come into play!

The Training

Our C1 driver training sessions will get you through the two practical tests needed to be able to pass your C1 licence.

  • Module 3A is the reversing exercise.
  • Module 3B is the on-road driving test.

It’s worth noting you DO NOT need to pass modules 2 and 4 driver CPC initial qualification if you will be driving an ambulance for the NHS.

The training consists of initially completing the Module 3a reversing exercise which is reversing the vehicle in an S-shaped pattern into a bay. This is carried out in-house, along with another local independent instructor.

This then leaves the on-road driving in the Guildford area with the Module 3b on-road test completed on the final day. The standard required for this is high, but Matt’s training program will give you time to improve your driving skills, lose any bad habits that may have crept in, and also give you vital test route familiarisation along with all the hotspots that have the potential to cause issues to the unsuspecting!

If you are experienced in driving, just two days of on-road driving are needed. If you don’t drive regularly, or not used to driving manual transmission, a three-day course is advised.

During your practical road driving, the examiner will see how you:

  • use the vehicle controls
  • move away at an angle, uphill and downhill
  • pull up in various safe locations.
  • use the mirrors
  • give appropriate signals
  • show awareness and anticipation of other road users’ intentions
  • manage your progress and control your vehicle speed
  • deal with hazards
  • select a safe place to stop

There will also be 10 minutes of independent driving, designed to test your ability to drive safely while making independent decisions.

The overall drive is 1 hour in total – that’s a long time to keep every aspect of your driving spot-on and not lapse any concentration! But don’t worry – our C1 driver training courses will have you fully prepared to pass your test and get driving ambulances in no time!

Have a deadline to get your C1 test passed? We will aim to fulfil your requirements!
