Is there a theory part to the Test?
No, not at the present time, practical only.
What is the cost of the B+E Test with the DSA?
The current cost of the Test is £115 on weekdays. Saturday tests – where available, are extra.
Can I practice at home?
Yes, as long as you display L plates, the person supervising must be over the age of 21 and has held the B+E category on their licence for at least 3 years, and you must inform your insurance company.
What age can I take the B+E Test?
Anyone over the age of 17 years who has passed their driving test can take the B+E Test.
How long does the Test last?
Approximately 90 minutes, depending on traffic.
Who will book the Test?
Matt will book the test for you to fit in with your training.
Will I be asked to carry out any manoeuvres on the road (public highway)?
No. The reversing and uncoupling & re-coupling will be carried out at the test centre.
What about insurance cover?
You will be fully covered under specialist Driver Training insurance when using the vehicle supplied.
Where do I take the Test?
The B+E Test is carried out at Guildford Test Centre where there is sufficient space to carry out the off-road manoeuvres.
How many faults am I allowed on the Test?
You are allowed up to 15 minor driving errors but no serious, dangerous, or consistent driving faults.
If I fail the Test do I need to take the whole course again?
No, a range of retest courses are available.
What can I tow when I have passed the B+E test?
You will be allowed to tow any trailer with a capacity up to a maximum of 3500kg, providing the weight of the trailer and load does not exceed the towing vehicle’s capacity.
